Conference Scholarship Program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: On the behalf of Access, thank you for your interest in participating in the upcoming Silicon Valley Human Rights Conference: Preparing Tech Companies for 21st Century Challenges. We are proud to announce our Scholarship Program, which offers a limited amount of space at the conference for our colleagues and peers who are working tirelessly toward human rights and social change, but who do not have the budget to participate in this event.

In addition to receiving complimentary admission to the conference, we will arrange for your roundtrip airfare to San Francisco and 1 night accommodation. You can look forward to a 2-day all-access pass to all roundtables, panel discussions and keynotes. We have also arranged an honorary reception specially for Scholarship recipients to meet and mingle with our top event sponsors, speakers and panelists.

We would like to acknowledge our Presenting Sponsors, Google, Facebook, Mozilla, Yahoo! and Skype, in addition to all of our other sponsors, for providing the necessary funding for this program. Please know the ICT community recognizes the enormous importance of providing a dynamic and equitable platform for the exchange of ideas in the ever-evolving world of global human rights in the digital age. There is nothing more relevant in the world right now. We believe that budget limitations should never preclude organizations who are – literally – changing the world, from participating in such an important conversation.

HOW TO APPLY: The Scholarship Program is open to any graduate-level student, Non-Governmental Organization or Non-Profit. If you would like to apply we will need the following to be submitted via e-mail until the 10th of October as a single PDF file to conference@accessnow.org:

  • 1 page statement addressing what you plan to learn and to contribute at the Conference
  • 1 page summary of your organization (or curriculum vitae if student)
  • Explanation of budgetary limitations or financial hardship
