With less than three months to go until RightsCon 2026 (May 5–8, Zambia and online), now is the time to start and submit your visa to travel to Zambia, if you need one. Our team is here to support you every step of the way. Below is a quick rundown of the process:
Find out if you need a visa
Zambia allows passport holders from 167 countries to enter without a visa. We recommend checking the official Zambian government website to confirm whether you qualify for visa-free entry. If you need a visa, move on to step two.
Fill out our form to request supporting documents for your e-Visa application
Even if you’re eligible for a Visa on Arrival or through a Zambian Mission abroad, we strongly recommend that all participants who require a visa apply for an e-Visa, as this allows our team to provide direct support, including with the required supporting documents for your application. To get started, complete the RightsCon visa support and documentation request form on our platform as soon as possible and before April 3, at 23:59 Pacific Standard Time.
We are working closely with Zambia’s Ministry of Technology and Science (MoTS), our main government partner, as well as our local partner Bloggers of Zambia, to help facilitate this process for RightsCon participants. Please note that the information you provide in this form will be shared with MoTS and Bloggers of Zambia for visa support purposes.
RightsCon team support
Once we receive your request through our form, we will review your information to make sure it’s complete and that you are registered for RightsCon (if you haven’t already, make sure to register!).
We’ll then provide you with the following three supporting documents to upload as part of your e-Visa application within 3-5 business days:
- An invitation letter from Zambia’s Ministry of Technology and Science
- An invitation letter from Access Now and Bloggers of Zambia
- A Certificate of Incorporation from Bloggers of Zambia
Apply for the e-Visa to Zambia online
Once you receive the documents from our team, you have to apply for the e-Visa through the official Zambian e-Visa application portal. Please note:
- When applying, select the option of Business visa, under Purpose of Visit, as this visa is intended for individuals entering the country to attend conferences and meetings.
- The e-Visa processing fee is USD $50
- Processing time is usually 5–10 business days, but in some cases it may take up to a month, so be sure to apply as soon as you receive the supporting documents.
- Once the e-Visa is approved, it is valid for 90 days and you need to enter Zambia within this period.
- Upon entry to Zambia, your visa will allow for you to stay up to 30 days.
You can find this information, along with additional details, on our Plan Your Travel page. If you have any questions at any point, feel free to contact us at [email protected]. Our team is here to help!
We encourage you to save this rundown and share it with anyone planning to join us in-person at RightsCon 2026.
